Apple Inc. is set to launch its most significant update to the iPhone in years with the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. The new phones represent the first time that Apple has offered pro-level features in its mainstream iPhone line. The iPhone 12 Pro models will start at $999 and $1,099, respectively, and will be available in October.
The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max feature a new design with a squared-off aluminum frame and flat edge-to-edge OLED display. The 6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro and 6.7-inch Pro Max are 5G enabled and feature Apple’s A14 Bionic processor. The OLED display on the Pro models is 47% brighter than the iPhone 11 Pro and has a 120Hz refresh rate.
The camera system on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max has been completely redesigned. The three camera sensors are now arranged in a square bump on the back of the phone. The wide-angle camera has been upgraded to a 47% larger sensor with an f/1.6 aperture and OIS. Thetelephoto camera has been upgraded to a 65mm focal length with an f/2.2 aperture and OIS. The ultrawide camera remains the same as the iPhone 11.
Night Mode has been improved with the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max and can now be used on all three camera sensors. Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 are new features that use machine learning to improve photos. The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max can also record video in Dolby Vision HDR and can edit it in the Photos app.
Apple’s new ProRAW format is only available on the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. ProRAW is a RAW image format that combines Apple’s processing with the data from the image sensor. This gives users more control over color, noise reduction, and Exposure in post-processing.
The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max are the most expensive iPhones ever released, but they offer a significant upgrade over the standard iPhone 12. If you’re looking for the best iPhone on the market, the 12 Pro and Pro Max are the phones to get.
